The prolific change of 2020 has shaped the real estate industry more than anything else in decades. The digitization had been underway before the pandemic, but the speed of that shift has accelerated in ways that nobody could have predicted.
We all know the feeling. When the weather outside is terrible but we are able to observe it only as spectators, safe and comfortable inside. There is a Danish word for this feeling: “hygge.” It describes the quality of coziness from being warm in cold weather. It is associated with wellness and contentment—and occasionally used to sell thick wool socks and bearskin rugs. “Hygge” hit popular culture a few years ago but it’s not a trend that’s going away. It is a way of life and an aesthetic.
It has been a trying time across all industries and all kinds of interpersonal relationships. Community managers and tenants are considered in-person communities, and as such, are particularly affected by the onslaught of this uncertainty. COVID-19 has urged community managers to think on their feet when it comes to solutions for pressing concerns among their tenants. Clear communication is the cornerstone of maintaining tenant relationships – despite it looking differently from what it once was.
