Europe's fight against carbon dioxide is pushing developers to reduce their carbon footprint. Building so-called sustainably will be crucial for the financing of new projects in the coming years. Domestic developers already want to use industrially processed wood to a greater extent for the construction of offices and apartment buildings. But legislation prevents them from doing so. Studio Qarta Architecture of architects Jiří Řezák and David Wittassek now offers a possible solution to break the ice in this regard in the Czech Republic.
Developer CTP ceremoniously launched the construction of a highly modern office building in the presence of Brno Mayor Markéta Vaňková, 1st Deputy Mayor Petr Hladík, Brno Deputy Robert Kerndl and City Councilor for Transport Petr Kratochvíl. The building for 1.5 billion crowns will complete the first stage of the development of the Ponávka complex in Brno and will offer its tenants the most modern technological and at the same time ecologically sustainable solutions. A modern city park for 30 million crowns is also being created in the area, which is a collaboration between the developer and the city of Brno, as well as the third part of the bike path connecting the Ponávka and Vlněn areas.
Different temperatures in different rooms, air control or reducing the energy intensity of a building by efficient use of alternative sources. These are just some of the benefits of building automation. It offers simplification of maintenance and significant financial savings, especially for large office buildings, hotels or industrial buildings. In the Czech Republic, however, we still have a long way to go compared to the West.
The more than a billion-dollar reconstruction of the functionalist building known as the Palace of Electrical Enterprises is almost complete. The unique building in Prague's Holešovice, which was originally completed in 1937, was successfully approved. Marketing, advertising and PR agencies, which are part of the multinational company WPP, will soon move into the renovated office space. The company, which will occupy almost 2/3 of the building, is now starting to prepare and implement its future offices. The Bubenská 1 project is one of the largest and most technically demanding reconstructions of a listed building in Prague.
Even tradition sometimes needs a new coat. Becherovka, which has been produced according to the same recipe for more than 200 years, has new offices. The original background in indistinct colors ceased to meet the requirements of the company and the employees moved to modern premises in the Stromovka Center in Holešovice, Prague. The offices will feature colorful meeting rooms styled according to Becherovka, Jameson, Beefeater or Havana Club spirits, as well as its own bar.
The development company Sekyra Group will probably kick the ground in Prague 8 on Rohan Island for the first time in the first quarter of next year due to a new project. This area is one of the largest development sites in Prague. The total investment in apartments, offices and other premises should amount to around 15 billion CZK.
The former freight station in Smíchov is starting to change. Practically in the center of Prague, a new "city within a city" is to be built within 12 years, which will include apartments, offices, retail space, and public spaces, including a kilometer-long pedestrian boulevard. The plans also include two parks, each the size of the Old Town Square. This is currently the largest development project in Prague.
The developer Penta Real Estate has announced a competition for coworking offices in Prague in the Churchill building. The winner was Studio Perspektiv, which created a so-called boutique co-working space for the discerning. It is called Base and is the first branch of the planned network.
