Profile Furniture has successfully completed the implementation of furniture for a new seven -story administrative building of CEZ at the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant, which represents the largest construction project since the start of the power plant operation. Implementation of interior equipment has reached a total volume of CZK 11.4 million without VAT. The new building was designed by architects from the DI5 studio and the construction was completed in April this year. The implementation and installation of furniture took place in two stages - the first stage, including office space equipment, was completed by the end of April 2024, the second stage concerning other equipment was completed at the end of June 2024.
“The project included a total of 242 jobs, meeting rooms, dining room, classrooms and workshops within the educational center, where specialists responsible for the safe operation of the nuclear power plant will be trained. We made all furniture to order according to the tender documentation, so our carpenters again demonstrated the ability to successfully adapt to any situation, ”said Miroslav Čermák, manager of the project.
Administrative and practical training of employees will take place on two floors of the building, while on the third to sixth floor there are modular adaptable offices and meeting rooms for employees of the power plant. The equipment includes adjustable and solid work tables, unique negotiating tables and storage space. The entire interior of the offices is designed so that it can be changed on the basis of the current needs of employees.
During the design of the building interiors, the architectural studio DI5 and the main architects of the project Marián Ján and Pavel Kabíček held the context of the power plant itself. “The interiors are designed in industrial concepts with exposed constructions and pipe wiring and cables, similar to the neighboring reactor. In addition, each floor has its color. The hottest shade is used in the basement and further cool to the coldest on the seventh floor. The inspiration was gradually cooled steam in nearby cooling towers, ”says Ján. “This color is concentrated around the imaginary cores consisting of perforated sheet metal in the shape of the VVER reactor. By moving away from the 'cores', the color reduces to the light gray. It is created by a metaphor for radioactive particles of the reactor core. The facade consists of two types of rolled sheets laid in parameter -generated sequences, ”he adds.
Furniture for the new building is not the first project of the furniture profile for CEZ. “In the past, we have participated in other projects, such as CEZ's equipment in the Alpha building at Brumlovka in Prague. However, the furniture equipment for the new building in Dukovany was a significantly larger project. We are already looking forward to other challenges that SČEZ will build before us, ”adds Miroslav Čermák, who was in charge of both projects.
