Oberbank plans to open two new branches in the Czech Republic. The Austrian bank’s CEO for the Czech Republic, Robert Pokorný, told e15 that the savings and loan volumes have increased over the past four years. The bank’s profit jumped 10 percent y-o-y to €122.4m in 2013, with loans growing by 4.2 percent to €11.7bn, and savings up 5.7 percent to €22.8bn y-o-y. Pokorný fears, however, that the political tension in Ukraine and a higher bank tax in Austria could negatively influence the bank’s business.
Oberbank has 150 branches in five countries. It currently operates 19 branch offices in the Czech Republic.
