Penta announces architectural competition for Florenc

Penta Real Estate, in cooperation with Prague and the city districts, has announced an architectural competition to design the form of four blocks between the main road and the Florenc bus station. Architectural teams can apply until December 13, and the winning designs will be published next fall. Representatives of Prague and Penta announced this on Friday. The Penta investment group also owns land near the nearby Masaryk railway station, where it completed the Masaryčka administrative building, which was awarded by experts.

Simon Johnson, who has held the position of COO of the group for the past 14 years within Crestyl and also acted as executive director for the Czech Republic, is taking over the management of the entire group. The founder, owner and current CEO of the Crestyl Group, Omar Koleilat, is moving from an executive position to the role of a strategic consultant, and remains the owner of the company.

Part of the Dornych project in Brno will be the NYX lifestyle hotel from the Leonardo Hotels network

The Dornych project of the Crestyl Group, which will replace the old shopping center in the neighborhood of the Brno Central Station in the coming years, will also offer a hotel. The Leonardo Hotels network will strengthen its presence in the Czech Republic with the opening of a new lifestyle hotel, NYX Hotel Brno by Leonardo Hotels. It will open in mid-2028 and will be the group's second hotel in the Czech Republic after NYX Hotel Praha, which opened in 2017. The Dornych project will offer a freely accessible public space flanked by several smaller buildings. The lower floors of the new buildings will be reserved for shops and services, while the upper floors will house rental housing and offices in addition to the aforementioned hotel. One of the buildings will be occupied by the EUC clinic.

The development company Skanska has been demolishing the brutalist Merkuria building in Holešovice for a year and a half. The demolition period is indeed atypical, and there is a good reason for it – Skanska decided on a bold plan. In place of large excavators, on-site workers try to find other uses for all the material in the building, be it furniture, blinds, iron or concrete.

Port7 received LEED Platinum certification with the highest rating

Skanska's latest and largest administrative project in the Czech Republic, Port7, received the prestigious LEED Platinum certification in the latest v4 version. According to available information, the project received the best rating of all commercial projects built last year in the Czech Republic. Buildings D and E even ranked among the best in the ranking of the most sustainable office buildings in Europe certified in 2023. Demanding environmental criteria were followed both during construction and now during the building's operation. Skanska was able to obtain 3 platinum certifications at once in the campus certification scheme.

The new look of Vítězné náměstí in Prague's Dejvice will begin to take shape thanks to the winning proposal from the consortium of studios Benthem Crouwel Architects, Opočenský Valouch Architekti, Rehwaldt Landscape Architects, PUDIS and AED. Investment group Penta, whose development activities are led by billionaire Marek Dospiva, bought from České drah long-term unused plots of land in Prague's Florenci, next to the Prague highway. Thanks to this, it can continue the project of two buildings designed by the Zaha Hadid Architects studio, which it completed this October near the Masaryk station. In addition, Penta plans to acquire additional parcels in the locality, thanks to which it would control the territory from Masaryk station to Pernerova Street in Karlín.
